For agreements made starting April 1, 2026, employers would be unable to enforce certain restrictions on covered plumbing workers after their work ends.
Employers would be unable to enforce certain work restrictions against covered plumbing workers after their job or contract ends. The rule would apply only to agreements made starting April 1, 2026.
The proposed section would make covered noncompete agreements void and unenforceable. It covers employers and journeyman plumbers, apprentice plumbers, pipefitters, welders, HVAC service technicians, and others doing work that requires a license under this article. The definition includes nonsolicitation agreements and training repayment agreements for workers outside registered apprentice programs. It excludes agreements protecting genuine confidential business information and scholarship loans for people in commission-approved apprenticeship programs. It applies to agreements entered into on or after April 1, 2026.
No hearings or votes scheduled.
