Certain Indiana insurance rules would include mental health and substance use care from listed licensed workers, interns, and trainees, whether or not the provider is in the insurer's network.
The bill would include care from listed licensed workers, interns, and trainees in the definition of treatment. The definition applies to mental health and substance use treatment in two Indiana insurance sections. The text names an intern or a trainee pursuing study in medicine or psychology, or study toward a license under IC 25-23.6. The provider may be inside or outside the insurer's network. If enacted, the amendments would take effect July 1, 2026.
