What it does

The office would report how many eligible families received support, applied for help, attended classes, and reported changes they linked to the program.
Argument forEligible families could get help finding services and applying for benefits, housing, education, or work, along with parenting and family support.
Argument againstFamilies who need help but do not meet TANF or related rules may not qualify for the pilot, even if they could use its support.
More detail
The Office of Wellness and Resilience would run a family support pilot. The program serves families who meet TANF or related eligibility rules. It offers help connecting with community resources, applying for benefits, housing, education, or work, and taking parenting or cultural family strengthening services. The text provides $600,000, or as much as needed, from TANF funds for fiscal year 2026–2027. The program would run from July 1, 2026, through June 30, 2027.
The office would report the pilot’s results and recommendations to the legislature. The report covers families eligible for the pilot. The report counts families connected with services, applying for assistance, housing, education, or work, and taking part in parenting or cultural family strengthening services. It also counts families who report changes they attribute directly to the program. The report is due no later than 20 days before the 2028 regular legislative session.
