Idaho law requires contact details on local election petitions
Idaho law requires local election petitions to list candidates’ phone numbers and email addresses, and subdivision clerks to send county clerks maps of their subdistricts.
1
What it does
Local election petitions include candidates’ phone numbers and email addresses. Petition information must be made public when requested.
Each political subdivision’s clerk must give the county clerk a detailed map showing all its subdistricts.
Argument forListing phone numbers and email addresses on petitions could help voters and clerks reach candidates about local elections.
Argument againstMaking petition information public on request could expose candidates to unwanted contact or make some people less willing to run.
