The attorney general would contract with an eligible Iowa nonprofit to run sexual assault examination centers and provide survivor care, training, and general reimbursement toward operating costs.
The attorney general would contract with an eligible nonprofit to run and maintain sexual assault examination centers in Iowa. The contract would go to an Iowa nonprofit that meets the listed requirements and operates centers serving sexual assault survivors. The nonprofit must be incorporated in Iowa, retain sexual assault nurse examiners, and maintain or be establishing treatment facilities focused mainly on services for survivors. Providing survivor care and related training must be the nonprofit’s main purpose. It must serve adults, children, people with disabilities, rural Iowans, and other underserved groups, and provide or arrange the listed services and training. The contract would provide general reimbursement toward operating costs. The nonprofit could also seek other funding, including fees for training attendance. The attorney general could end the contract only for good cause, after a hearing and written notice.
