Delaware lawmakers have asked state Supreme Court justices whether one governor could submit January 2025 nominations and the next could withdraw them while the Senate considered them.
Lawmakers ask justices whether former Governor Bethany Hall-Long could submit January 2025 nominations and, if so, whether Governor Matthew Meyer could withdraw them while the Senate considered them.
Delaware lawmakers ask the state Supreme Court justices for an opinion about the nominations. The questions cover Hall-Long’s power to submit nominations between January 7 and January 21, 2025, and Meyer’s power to withdraw her January 17 nominations. The question about Meyer’s withdrawal applies only if the justices find that Hall-Long had the power to submit nominations. Lawmakers ask for an answer by March 10, 2025, if the justices can provide one.
