Starting July 1, 2026, the health commissioner must use account money to make grants to eligible medical offices and facilities for patient lifts. Grants cannot exceed the money available.
The law directs the health commissioner to use account money for grants to buy patient lifts. Grants may go to physician practice offices, radiology facilities, imaging centers, and health care facilities. Lifts must help move older adults and people with disabilities, injuries, or chronic health conditions from beds to wheelchairs or other equipment. The account may receive state money, money required by law, and gifts, grants, donations, or bequests. Investment earnings stay in the account. The commissioner may keep up to 2% of the account balance in a fiscal year to cover the department’s costs of running the program. No grant may exceed the money available for grants in the account. The account takes effect July 1, 2026.
No hearings or votes scheduled.
