If adopted, the resolution would direct unused legislative travel funds to cover eligible costs above a lawmaker’s reimbursement limit, with a fallback if funds run out.
Unused 83rd-session travel funds would first cover that same legislator’s special-session travel costs above the usual limit, if the resolution is adopted.
After a regular or special session, leftover travel funds would go to other legislators who exceeded their limit. If the funds run out, those legislators must pay the excess costs.
The Legislative Counsel Bureau would use unused travel reimbursement to cover eligible costs above a legislator’s reimbursement limit. This applies to legislators serving in special sessions during the stated period. The funds must be unused reimbursement authorized for a legislator’s service in the 83rd (2025) regular session. The travel costs must exceed the maximum reimbursement for special-session service under NRS 218A.645. The special sessions must be held from June 3, 2025, through November 3, 2026. The resolution would take effect upon adoption.
The Legislative Counsel Bureau would apply unused travel reimbursement after a session to another legislator who exceeded the reimbursement limit. This applies to legislators with travel costs above their authorized reimbursement limit after a regular or special session. This applies except where the resolution provides otherwise. If all unused reimbursement has been claimed, a legislator whose travel costs exceed the limit must pay the excess. Approved claims would be verified, processed, and paid in the same manner as claims under NRS 218A.645. The resolution would take effect upon adoption.
