Starting July 1, 2026, Act 128 directs up to $20 million toward preserving state lands, historic places, and other state-owned resources.
Starting July 1, 2026, the department may use up to $20 million for state lands, historic places, and other state-owned resources, subject to available funds and spending controls.
Act 128 sets aside up to $20 million for the Department of Parks, Heritage, and Tourism. The money may support buying, managing, caring for, or preserving state-owned land, historic sites, buildings, structures, and objects. The money comes from the Arkansas Natural and Cultural Resources Grant and Trust Fund. Contracts and other obligations may not exceed state funds actually available. The department may use grants, donations, federal funds, and available cash to help pay project costs. The department may not use its separately provided maintenance and general operating funds for these projects. The appropriation takes effect on July 1, 2026, and the act is in force from that date.
