Education boards must generally post covered job openings at least seven calendar days before filling them. This includes supervisory, management, and newly created jobs when schools are in session.
Education boards must post covered job openings on their website or at each school campus and worksite. The rule covers Alabama's public county and city school boards, the listed state specialty school boards, and the Alabama Community College System's two-year institutions. The rule excludes state Merit System workers and Alabama Institute for Deaf and Blind employees who work for Alabama Industries for the Blind or at its regional centers. Dire emergencies allow temporary notice delays only as needed to meet the emergency. The law took effect October 1, 2026.
