A qualifying fire chaplain may apply for one firefighter distinctive license plate. The applicant must be a member of the Alabama Fellowship of Fire Chaplains and use the plate on a personally owned private passenger vehicle registered in the applicant's name. The applicant must provide an affidavit from the fellowship president verifying service, membership in good standing, and eligibility. A person who is no longer a member in good standing is not eligible. The plate replaces the standard plate on the vehicle for which it is issued. This provision takes effect January 1, 2027.
A person who falsely obtains a firefighter distinctive license plate or falsely certifies another person to obtain one would commit a Class C misdemeanor. The penalty applies to any individual proven to have falsely obtained the plate or falsely certified another person for the plate. This provision takes effect January 1, 2027.
