The Talladega County Sheriff's Office charges a fee for serving or attempting to serve certain court papers. This law applies only in Talladega County and covers matters pending or to be started in a court outside Alabama. The fee is $50 for papers tied to a case in a court outside Alabama, or $100 for papers served or attempted to be served on an inmate at the federal correctional institution in Talladega. The district attorney, law enforcement, grand juries, Talladega County, and other Alabama counties are exempt.
