Some licensed retailers and restaurants open overnight may refuse cash if they clearly tell customers on a door or menu that cash is not accepted.
Eligible retailers and restaurants may refuse cash payments. This covers retailers with a valid on-premises Class C or D retailer license and restaurants open 24 hours a day or at 3 a.m. at least two days a week. The business must display clear written notice on its door or menu telling customers that it does not accept cash. The temporary permission expires 225 days after the law takes effect.
