TACIR must perform a study of Tennessee’s emergency communications system. The study covers emergency communications districts, their operating structures, funding, organizational charts, call sharing, consolidation, statewide coordination, and public safety answering points. The study must compare Tennessee’s funding model with other states’ models. It must examine direct dispatch at all public safety answering points and may address other related topics and legislative recommendations. TACIR must file the completed study with the Senate and House speakers by December 1, 2026. The act takes effect when it becomes law.
