The law keeps municipal police union contract terms in place while officers and their employers await a replacement agreement or arbitration decision setting new terms.
All terms of an existing municipal police union contract stay in place until the parties reach a replacement agreement or an arbitrator decides the new contract terms.
Municipal employers and police unions must keep all existing contract terms in place while a replacement contract remains unresolved. The rule covers collective bargaining agreements, or union contracts, under Rhode Island’s municipal police arbitration law. The law takes effect upon passage. Contract terms continue until a replacement agreement is reached or an arbitration decision setting contract terms is issued.
No hearings or votes scheduled.
