The proposal would remove three parcels from Morehead City limits. The parcels are identified by Carteret County numbers 638714442765000, 638714440096000, and 638714444512000. The removal would take effect June 30, 2026.
The parcels would no longer be subject to city taxes for the specified tax years. This applies to the three parcels described in Section 1(a). The parcels must be in the described territory as of January 1, 2026. The city could still collect or foreclose on liens for taxes or special assessments that were outstanding before June 30, 2026, as if the property remained within city limits. The tax treatment applies to tax years beginning on or after July 1, 2026.
