The law lets Nassau County’s assessor consider New Hyde Park’s late exemption application for six parcels, if their owner otherwise qualifies.
The assessor may consider the village’s late exemption application for six New Hyde Park parcels as if it arrived on time. Any tax relief depends on eligibility and county approval.
The Nassau County assessor may accept and review the village’s exemption application as if it arrived on time. The application covers six parcels in New Hyde Park owned by the organization: Nassau County section 33, block 184, lots 222, 223, 227, 228, 324, and 326. The organization must otherwise qualify for the exemption under section 406 of the Real Property Tax Law. The assessor may correct the tax rolls only with approval from the Nassau County Legislature. If the exemption is granted, local officials may choose to refund taxes already paid or cancel unpaid taxes and related charges. The application covers part of the 2024–2025 school taxes and all 2025 general taxes. The law took effect immediately.
