Power House Church can seek a property tax exemption for its West Hempstead property for 2023 and 2024, subject to eligibility and county approval.
The Nassau County assessor may review Power House Church’s application for a tax exemption on its West Hempstead property for the 2023 and 2024 assessment rolls, if the church otherwise qualifies.
The law authorizes the Nassau County assessor to accept the church’s application for a property tax exemption. The application covers Power House Church property at 734 Woodfield Road in West Hempstead, identified by three Nassau County tax map lots, and applicable taxes for the 2023 and 2024 assessment rolls. The assessor must find that the church would otherwise qualify. The Nassau County Legislature must approve before the assessor may correct the tax rolls. If an exemption is granted, local officials may choose to refund taxes already paid or cancel unpaid taxes, fines, penalties, liens, or interest. The law took effect immediately. The application covers the 2023 and 2024 assessment rolls and is treated as if filed by their taxable status dates.
