New Jersey's parking rules round up fractional counts of spaces with chargers or prepared for them, while limiting the cut in required parking to 10%.
Counts of spaces with chargers or prepared for them round up to a whole space. Credits for those spaces cannot reduce required parking by more than 10%.
Counts of parking spaces with chargers or prepared for them must round up when they include a fraction. The rule covers calculations for parking spaces with electric vehicle chargers or spaces prepared for chargers under this law. A space with a charger or prepared for one counts as at least two spaces toward a parking minimum. These credits, including any effect of rounding, cannot reduce required parking by more than 10%. The law took effect when it was approved on July 22, 2026.
