A committee chosen by the Legislative Council would review how crop choices, farming methods, and export rules affect Montana producers, then report its findings to lawmakers.
A committee would study how crops that some export markets restrict and farming methods may affect Montana exports, shipping, producer costs, and crop quality. It would report its findings to the 70th Legislature.
The resolution would ask the Legislative Council to choose an interim committee to study these effects. The study would cover Montana agricultural products and producers, including effects tied to crops that some export markets restrict and farming methods such as chemical applications. The committee would review export markets, shipping and product quality, trade restrictions, regulations, and costs and benefits for conventional and organic producers. The study, presentation, and review would have to finish before September 15, 2026. The results would be reported to the 70th Legislature.
