Montana public colleges overseen by the Board of Regents would repay eligible students’ medical costs and lost income for covered illnesses diagnosed after COVID-19 vaccinations required for attendance.
Covered public colleges would repay eligible students for medical care and income lost because of a covered illness. Students would qualify if they attended a Montana public college overseen by the Board of Regents for any amount of time after January 20, 2020. Students would submit vaccination dates, certification that vaccination was required for attendance, a medical provider’s certification of a later diagnosis, and cost records. The four named illnesses are myocarditis, pericarditis, thrombosis with thrombocytopenia syndrome, and Guillain-Barre syndrome. Other illnesses would qualify if the Board of Regents approves them as positively associated with COVID-19 vaccines. The requirement would have taken effect upon passage and approval, but the measure died in the legislative process.
