1
What it does
The law renumbers chapters and sections and corrects wording and code references across many parts of Idaho law.
The law sets rules for directing and approving America250 fund spending. These provisions end July 1, 2027.
Argument forClearer section numbers and code references could help residents and public agencies find the laws they need.
Argument againstBecause unused America250 fund money moves to the general fund in 2027, the committee may have less time to direct spending on celebrations.
More detail
The law renumbers chapters and sections and corrects wording and code references in many parts of Idaho law. The listed provisions cover many subjects, including criminal law, schools, health, vehicles, and state programs. The act takes effect July 1, 2026.
Section 27 provides rules for the America250 commemoration fund and advisory committee, and those provisions end on July 1, 2027. The fund supports Idaho's participation in the 250th anniversary of America's founding. Fund spending requires committee direction and approval; spending authority for a state entity also depends on approval by the division of financial management. Section 27 has no effect on or after July 1, 2027; unobligated fund money transfers to the general fund on June 30, 2027.
