Starting with replacement projects after January 1, 2027, eligible Minnesota tank owners would be able to seek partial payment for replacing pressurized single-walled steel piping and related equipment.
Owners could receive 50 percent reimbursement for replacing eligible piping and related equipment, subject to cost reviews, a $100,000 limit per location, and annual program limits.
The board would reimburse an owner for 50 percent of eligible replacement costs. The program covers Minnesota underground petroleum storage tank systems installed before the subdivision takes effect that use pressurized single-walled steel piping. The replacement must use equipment that meets all current federal and Minnesota rules and standards. The owner must consider at least two bids and choose the bid with the lowest total cost. The board must find the costs reasonable and must deny unreasonable costs. Eligible costs include equipment, qualified installation labor, related dirt and concrete work, and directly related permits, freight, and shipping. It does not include tanks, dispensers, canopies, site improvements, or replacement signs. The reimbursement applies to replacement projects beginning after January 1, 2027, and the subdivision expires June 30, 2037.
