The teachers’ retirement system would count 7.92 years of Alec Ciminello’s Rhode Island teaching toward his retirement allowance. This applies to Alec Ciminello, a member of the Massachusetts teachers’ retirement system, for teaching service he rendered in Rhode Island. Before any retirement allowance takes effect, Alec must pay the system the amount that would have been withheld from his pay for that service, plus interest. The teachers’ retirement board may set the payment terms; Alec may pay in one sum or installments. The service period runs from August 1, 2014, through June 30, 2022, inclusive. Alec must pay before any retirement allowance takes effect.
