Dunstable’s select board and its remaining school committee member would be allowed to appoint someone together by majority vote. The appointment would fill the vacancy in one of Dunstable’s two seats on the Groton-Dunstable regional school committee following the 2026 annual town election. This permission would apply even if the district agreement or other state laws say otherwise. The appointed member would serve a three-year term ending at Dunstable’s 2029 annual town election.
