Wayland town offices and public schools would be allowed to publish required newspaper notices through locally approved print or online methods. The rules would cover notices that Wayland town and public school offices, boards, committees, and other town or school bodies must publish in newspapers. The Select Board would choose at least two allowed methods by majority vote for town notices. The School Committee would do the same for school notices. Options would include print newspapers, newspaper websites, eligible local news websites, and town or statewide notice websites. Local news websites would have to meet the digital publication criteria in the referenced state law. Both boards could change their choices later by majority vote. The bill would take effect upon passage. It would leave the timing of notices required by state law unchanged.
