Maryland requires a study of a possible program that would pay caregivers monthly for each dependent in their care. This law does not itself provide payments.
The law requires a study of whether to establish and run a monthly payment program for caregivers. A qualified family member must need help with daily activities, as certified by a licensed physician, physician assistant, or nurse practitioner. The definition covers certain older adults, people with Alzheimer’s or related disorders, and children or adults with developmental or functional disabilities cared for by relatives or informal caregivers. The study concerns monthly payments for each dependent cared for; this law does not itself provide payments. The law takes effect July 1, 2026. The printed text does not clearly establish the report deadline or when the law ends.
