The Department of Aging may award grants to support gatherings at multigenerational community spaces. Grants may go to nonprofit organizations and area agencies on aging to support people in aging-in-place programs. A multigenerational third place is a community space outside a home or workplace where people of different ages can connect or gather. Senior villages may use grant money for operating costs, including rent, to provide access to these spaces. Grant amounts depend on eligible applicants, available state funds, and area needs. An organization seeking a grant to expand an existing aging-in-place program must show an equal match. The law takes effect July 1, 2026.
