Anne Arundel County may let certain reserve, NOAA, and Public Health Service members postpone property taxes on their main home if they meet the other eligibility rules.
Certain reserve, NOAA, and Public Health Service members may qualify to defer county property taxes on their main home. The county must authorize the deferral, and owners must meet the other eligibility rules.
The law adds certain reserve members and certain NOAA and Public Health Service members to those who may qualify for a property tax payment deferral. This applies to county property taxes on residential property in Anne Arundel County that an owner lives in as their main home. Anne Arundel County must authorize the deferral by law; the law does not require the county to do so. The home must be the owner's main residence, and the owner must meet the other eligibility rules, including residency, age or disability, and income requirements. The law took effect June 1, 2026, and applies to taxable years beginning after June 30, 2026.
