The Louisiana commissioner of administration may coordinate with listed groups to make certain credentials available digitally. The credentials include bar membership cards, referee credentials, college and university faculty, staff, and student credentials, and mobility impaired identification cards through the motor vehicles office. Certain lenders must designate a public tag agent for electronic lien confirmations and lien releases or satisfactions. The agent receives electronic confirmation that a vehicle security interest was received and filed, and handles transmission of a lien release or satisfaction. Federally insured banks are covered if they originate more than 250 motor vehicle transactions per year. Finance companies, lending institutions, and other lenders are also covered. This provision takes effect August 1, 2026.
