Beginning July 1, 2026, Louisiana’s courts and judicial programs have state budget funding for the 2026–2027 fiscal year.
Louisiana’s 2026–2027 budget sets aside up to $229.6 million for state courts and related judicial programs.
The budget cuts $20.6 million from listed allocations and adds $18.3 million for family services, staff pay, and judges’ salaries.
If Senate Bill 141 becomes law, the Supreme Court receives $5 million and $892,093 for a criminal justice information system.
The law appropriates money for Louisiana courts and judicial programs. It covers the Supreme Court, courts of appeal, district courts, and other courts and judicial programs. The appropriation is for court expenses, up to the amount needed. The appropriations take effect July 1, 2026, for the 2026–2027 fiscal year.
The law reduces some General Fund allocations and assigns added money to family services and pay. These amounts adjust the State General Fund appropriations and allocations in Section 1. The Judicial Budgetary Control Board or Louisiana Supreme Court must adopt the plan for the reduction. The added money is assigned to Families in Need of Services, a staff pay plan adjustment, and salary increases for judges; the amounts do not guarantee individual raises. These amounts apply to Fiscal Year 2026–2027.
The law appropriates money to the Supreme Court for a criminal justice information system. The money is for the Louisiana Supreme Court’s Integrated Criminal Justice Information System. Both appropriations depend on Senate Bill 141 of the 2026 Regular Session becoming law. The appropriations are conditional on Senate Bill 141 becoming law; no separate start date is stated.
No hearings or votes scheduled.
