The Department of Health’s advisory group will study women’s health needs and report recommendations before the 2027 legislative session, with work limited by available funding.
The Department of Health has a group of state officials, health experts, and a health care consumer that will study women’s health and recommend priorities. Its advice does not require agencies to act.
The group must report its work and recommendations to state lawmakers and the governor’s office, including its plan for women’s health.
The Louisiana Department of Health has a Women's Health Consortium that studies women’s health needs and recommends priorities and possible improvements. The group includes state officials, lawmakers, health experts, and a health care consumer. It may seek advice from other interested groups. The consortium advises state agencies but cannot require them to adopt its recommendations. Its work may be carried out only with available appropriated or other funding. Agencies do not have to create positions, sign contracts, or spend additional funds without a specific legislative appropriation. The section’s provisions end June 30, 2027, unless the Legislature extends them.
The consortium must send a written report on its work, findings, and recommendations to state lawmakers, the governor’s office, and the Legislative Research Library. The report covers the consortium’s activities, findings, recommendations, and women’s health agenda. The report must include the state women’s health agenda. Where practical, the Department of Health may include the report in existing reports or publications to reduce duplicate work. The report is due before the 2027 regular legislative session begins. The reporting requirement ends June 30, 2027, unless the Legislature extends the law.
No hearings or votes scheduled.
