Iowa schools could seek repayment from students or families when a student fails or withdraws from a class offered through the community college program.
If a student fails or withdraws from a covered community college class, the school may request repayment of the related class cost from the student or family.
A school district or accredited nonpublic school may request payment from the student or family after a covered class is failed or dropped. The provision covers classes offered by a community college or taught by a community college employee through the program. For a minor, the parent or guardian pays; an adult student or emancipated minor pays. The amount must equal what the school paid the community college under its contract for that student's participation in the class. Payment is due upon the school’s request after the student fails or withdraws from the class.
