More detail
The Illinois Department of Public Health must establish, maintain, and promote a statewide phone service to help people quit tobacco or nicotine. The toll-free service is free for Illinois residents who use tobacco, electronic cigarettes, or other nicotine products and want to quit. The service must include a program backed by research, certified counselors, and support staff. The department may hire outside organizations to run the service and provide help with quitting. The department must adopt rules to carry out these requirements. These requirements took effect when the law became law on July 31, 2026.
