When program money is available, Illinois fire departments could receive brush truck loans based on need, with interest rates tied to where trucks are built.
When funds allow, fire departments could borrow up to $100,000 per brush truck. Annual interest would range from 0% to 2%, depending on where its chassis and firefighting equipment are built.
The Illinois Finance Authority would offer brush truck loans based on need determined by the State Fire Marshal. Fire departments, including township departments, and fire protection districts could buy pickup-based fire or rescue trucks rated from three-fourths of a ton to one ton. Loans depend on available program money and state spending approval. Annual simple interest would be 0% if both the chassis and equipment are built in Illinois, 1% if either is, and 2% if neither is. Repayment could last up to 20 years, with at least 5% of the original loan due yearly or the remaining balance if smaller.
