Argument againstDrivers could pay $25 for a plate while only part of each fee goes to the hospital fund; the rest supports plate costs.
More detail
The law allows applicants to get a Universal special plate with an OSF Children's Hospital of Illinois decal, and directs part of the fees to a hospital fund. Illinois residents may apply and must identify the authorized organization from which they will get the decal. The $25 plate fee is in addition to any applicable registration fee. The Secretary of State distributes money from the fund only as appropriated by the General Assembly. The law takes effect January 1, 2027.
