Hawaii provides funding for Honolulu to handle caught feral chickens
For fiscal year 2026–2027, Honolulu can use up to $50,000 to receive, handle, and humanely dispose of feral chickens already caught.
1
What it does
Hawaii provides up to $50,000 for fiscal year 2026–2027 so Honolulu can receive, handle, and humanely dispose of feral chickens already caught.
Argument forThe funding could help Honolulu receive and handle already-caught chickens before arranging their humane disposition.
Argument againstBecause the funding covers birds already caught, it may not help pay for the work needed to catch them.
More detail
Hawaii provides up to $50,000 for Honolulu to receive, handle, and humanely dispose of already-caught feral chickens. The funding covers feral chickens that have already been caught. Honolulu must spend the money for these purposes. The funding is for fiscal year 2026–2027. The law took effect July 1, 2026.
