If voters approved the measure, eligible Kingston homeowners could receive a city property tax exemption based on proceeds from a new local sales tax.
If voters approved the measure, eligible residents could get a Kingston city property tax exemption based on local sales tax proceeds. Other governments' taxes would remain due.
The proposed measure would exempt eligible residents from some Kingston city property taxes, with the amount based on net proceeds from the local sales tax. It would cover residents' homestead property within the Bartow County special district. Property value above the exempt amount would remain taxable. A resident or agent would generally need to apply. Some residents already receiving a city homestead exemption for the same home could qualify without applying again. The exemption would be added to other homestead exemptions and would affect only Kingston city taxes. The measure would take effect only if more than half of votes cast in the required election approved it. The required election would be held in November 2026. If approved, the exemption would apply from January 1, 2027, through December 31, 2039.
