From July 1, 2026, pools investing money for two or more local governments would need board approval before starting, with an exception for certain pools.
Pools that invest money for two or more local governments would need approval from the State Depository Board before they start, except pools created under a specified code section.
The State Depository Board must approve covered shared investment pools before they are established. This applies to investment pools, beyond the local government investment pool described in the law, that collectively invest money for two or more local governments. Pools created under Code Section 36-83-6 do not need this approval. This applies to pooled investments made on or after July 1, 2026.
