Florida’s gaming commission keeps already protected information confidential and may close limited meeting portions where that information is discussed.
The law describes protections for certain information held by Florida’s gaming commission and allows it to close meeting portions where that information is discussed. Closures must be limited and fully recorded.
The law describes protections for certain commission information and allows limited meeting portions about it to be closed. These provisions concern information the Florida Gaming Control Commission obtains that is already exempt from public records or meeting disclosure. The commission may share protected information in writing with a government agency carrying out official duties; the recipient must keep it protected. The chair must explain the need for closure at a public meeting and put the reasons in a public written record. Only commission members, specified staff, and people needed to present the information may attend; the commission must limit the closure. The entire closed session must be recorded. Its recording and related records stay confidential only while the information remains protected. The act took effect when it became law; the text gives no calendar date for that event.
