Delaware electric cooperatives exempt from state utility commission oversight and offering supplier choice could decide whether to supply customers expected to need more than 50 megawatts in a month.
Certain Delaware electric cooperatives could choose whether to supply customers expected to need more than 50 megawatts in a month during a 10-year growth period. Related customers on adjoining land may count as one.
A covered electric cooperative may choose whether to supply power to a qualifying customer. This applies to cooperatives that opted out of state utility commission oversight and adopted a plan allowing competing suppliers in their Delaware service areas. The customer's expected monthly demand must exceed 50 megawatts, a measure of electric power. Customers under common ownership on the same or adjoining land may count as one customer. The demand test looks at any month during a 10-year period when the customer's power use grows.
