Delaware lawmakers passed the first step toward allowing only people to vote in elections in or for the state; the next General Assembly must agree.
If the next General Assembly agrees, only people could vote in elections in or for Delaware. Corporations and other legal entities would be barred.
The proposed amendment would allow only people to vote and would bar corporations and other legal entities from voting. It would cover elections in or for Delaware at every level, including local, county, state, and federal elections. The next General Assembly must pass a matching act with support from at least two-thirds of all elected members in each house before the rule becomes part of Delaware's Constitution.
No hearings or votes scheduled.
