The measure would let certain older, inspected crematories keep operating while the state processes air-permit renewals or expansion permits.
A crematory approved by January 1, 2020 with an inspection certificate could keep operating while seeking renewal of its air permit or approval to expand.
A qualifying crematory may continue operating while seeking an air-permit renewal or a permit to expand its operations. This covers a crematory approved for operation on or before January 1, 2020 that obtained an inspection certificate under section 19a-320. The crematory must be seeking either a permit renewal for continued operations or a permit for an expansion. This permission applies notwithstanding the usual requirements of chapter 446c of the general statutes. The provision states that it takes effect from passage and applies during the period when the required permit is being processed or renewed.
