Cal State and community colleges will make a named contact available to LGBTQ+ faculty, staff, and students at sites beyond main campuses.
When the law takes effect, Cal State and community colleges must offer LGBTQ+ faculty, staff, and students a contact at sites beyond main campuses. Schools may assign another worker or offer regular office hours with the main campus contact.
If a state panel finds that this law forces local agencies or school districts to spend money, the state must repay eligible costs under existing rules.
Cal State trustees and community college district boards must make an employee available as a contact at sites beyond main campuses. This covers LGBTQ+ faculty, staff, and students at branch campuses, satellite locations, and other sites beyond the main campus. Schools may assign another employee or have the main campus contact hold regular virtual or in-person office hours at the other site. They must post the contact's name and details on that site's website and in its directories. UC is covered only if its regents approve.
The state must repay eligible local costs under existing reimbursement rules. This covers eligible costs to local agencies and school districts. The Commission on State Mandates must first find that the law imposes state-required costs. Payments follow existing reimbursement rules.
