California sellers of travel may be charged higher annual assessments per business location to support the Travel Consumer Restitution Corporation's operations fund.
Annual operations-fund assessments for sellers of travel may rise to $60 per California business location immediately and to $70 starting January 1, 2031, with later inflation-based increases allowed.
The Travel Consumer Restitution Corporation may set the annual operations-fund assessment up to $60 per business location before January 1, 2031, and up to $70 starting on that date. The limits apply to each location in California where a registered seller of travel does business. The assessment may not exceed the amount needed to operate and administer the corporation. The corporation may raise the maximum once per fiscal year by no more than the previous year's increase in the California Consumer Price Index. The act takes effect immediately. The $60 limit applies until January 1, 2031; the $70 limit applies when the replacement provision becomes operative on January 1, 2031.
