Chain restaurants must offer a nutrition-standard children's meal
Chain restaurants with 20 or more locations that sell children's meals must offer one meeting nutrition rules and train employees on those rules by July 1, 2027.
1
What it does
Restaurants with 20 or more locations must offer at least one children's meal that meets limits for calories, sodium, saturated fat, added sugar, and trans fat, and includes two qualifying food servings.
By July 1, 2027, these restaurants must include instructions on the meal rules in ongoing employee training and new employee training.
Argument forChildren may have an easier time finding a balanced meal because restaurants must offer one that meets nutrition and food-group standards.
Argument againstRestaurants may have fewer ways to build children's meals, since each offered meal must meet calorie, nutrient, and food-group limits.
More detail
