California requires service signs near two State Route 395 exits
California law requires transportation officials to allow signs for qualified motorist services near two specified State Route 395 exits through January 1, 2037.
1
What it does
Businesses serving motorists may have information signs near two State Route 395 exits if they are within 10 miles of the interchange.
Argument forDrivers could more easily find nearby fuel, food, lodging, or other motorist services near these two exits.
Argument againstMore signs at the specified exits could add visual clutter for drivers, especially where several nearby businesses qualify.
More detail
The Department of Transportation must allow information signs at the two specified State Route 395 locations. The rule covers southbound State Route 395 before the State Route 178 eastbound exit and northbound State Route 395 before the South China Lake Boulevard northbound exit. Qualified motorist service businesses must be located within 10 miles of the interchange where a sign would be displayed. The department must allow these signs until January 1, 2037.
