Starting at the end of fiscal year 2025–26, the state treasurer sends limited gaming money to tourism promotion and a museum account, whose spending needs yearly approval.
The law directs the state treasurer to send $1 million each year to the museum and preservation account and $14 million to the travel and tourism promotion fund.
At the end of each state fiscal year, the state treasurer transfers $1 million to the museum and preservation operations account and $14 million to the Colorado travel and tourism promotion fund. The transfers come from the state share of limited gaming money and go to the named state account and fund. Money transferred to the museum and preservation operations account is subject to annual appropriation, meaning the General Assembly must approve its spending. The transfers apply at the end of the 2025–26 state fiscal year and at the end of each state fiscal year thereafter.
