For two fiscal years, certain payments from natural resources taken from public school lands go to the state school fund, after required deposits to other specified funds.
The law directs the first $25 million in qualifying payments in 2025–26 and the first $45 million in 2026–27 to the state school fund. Any excess goes to the permanent public school fund.
The law directs some natural resource payments from public school lands to the state public school fund. The rule covers royalties and other payments for natural resource depletion or extraction on public school lands. Only payments remaining after required deposits to other specified funds count toward the transfer amounts. Payments above those amounts go to the permanent public school fund and become part of its principal. The transfer amounts apply in state fiscal years 2025–26 and 2026–27, respectively.
