Santa Cruz County eating places in listed census tracts may receive up to five new neighborhood alcohol licenses each year, until 12 total licenses are issued.
The Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control may issue up to five new neighborhood-restricted special on-sale general licenses each year. The licenses are for bona fide public eating places in the listed 2020 Census tracts in Santa Cruz County, with no more than six licenses in each of two tract groups. The department must use the application and drawing procedures in Section 23961. An applicant must cancel any existing on-sale license for the same premises before receiving a license under this section. A person with a current or recent on-sale license interest for that premises is not eligible. The licenses generally cannot move to another county or premises, although the department may allow a move within the same neighborhood and special rules apply if the premises are destroyed by fire or another uncontrollable event. The department may issue no more than five licenses per year until 12 total licenses authorized by this section have been issued. The text does not state a first issuance date.
